An iPhone 4 Survives a Year at the Bottom of a Lake

In 2015 a fisherman dropped his iPhone into an icy lake – that iPhone 4 has been discovered more than a year later – and is still working perfectly. Michael Guntrum, from Knox, Pennsylvania, lost his iPhone 4 in Kyle Lake while out ice fishing with friends in March of 2015. He said the phone had slipped off his lap and fallen down a hole in the ice while he was reeling in a fish from the water. Remarkably, his phone was discovered after the lake was drained in September of 2016.

Daniel Kalgren, a mechanical engineer, said he was using a metal detector in the drained lake bed to hunt for treasure when he came across the iPhone in an Otterbox LifeProof case

He said ‘I took the phone home, cleaned it  – just out of curiosity I plugged it in to see if it would still work. I was able to turn it on and use it to look up his number. He knows I have it now, and I’m going to mail it to him.’

Clearly, Otterbox’s LifeProof cases are the right choice! Excellent protection for any type of mobile device. #lifeproof #otterbox
