  1. Connecting Current Scholars: Students are much less likely to disengage from the subject matter if they feel that what they are learning is still alive and growing. Consequently, some professors have been having students read texts written by scholars still working in the field, and then live video chatting those scholars into class for discussion. This allows students to engage with the text on a deeper level and delve into real-world applications.
  2. Bolstering Class Discussion: Some professors have begun asking students to post their reactions to the readings online before the class discussion on the subject. This has enabled them to engage with students who would otherwise not share their opinions in class, creating a more diverse discussion.
  3. Flipping The Classroom: Rather than using classroom time for a monologue-like lecture with little student engagement, many professors have begun flipping their classroom. This means posting their lectures online and having students watch outside of class, leaving the time spent in the classroom open for discussion, questions, and deeper engagement with the subject matter.
